Kinský dal Borgo
Czech Republic
This beautiful estate includes 9 forests, a picturesque Baroque and an impressive Medieval castle. Stay at the hotel for a country escape or plan for your special Wedding day here!

History
Brought together with the union of Norbert Kinský and Anna-Maria dal Borgo, the Kinský dal Borgo estate makes up two areas, one 80 km east of and the other 80km north of Prague. The estate was confiscated by both the Nazi occupation and then the communist government forcing the owners to flee to Italy. During the Velvet Revolution the property was returned to the rightful owners, brothers Counts Giovanni and Pio Kinský dal Borgo.
At present, the two brothers, together with their sons, Counts Francesco and Carlo Kinský dal Borgo, manage the 8000 hectares of forest for timber, the 300 hectares of lakes, 300 hectares of agriculture, wildlife management through hunting as well as the tens of thousands of visitors to the castles.

Kost Castle
This imposing Medieval castle was built around 1370 as a defensive fort by Beneš of Wartenberg. In 1540 the Renaissance wing was added by Jan of Biberstein with a large kitchen. When passed to the Lobkowitz family by marriage, a brewery, ‘Lobkowitz’ palace and farm building were added. In 1889, following the death of Kazimír Netolický without a male heir, Kost castle and its estate became the property of the Dal Borgo Netolický family, and later, in 1993 of the Kinský dal Borgo family. For more information about visiting or the ‘U Draka’ (Dragon) restaurant at Kost Castle, please go to their website.
Karlova Koruna Castle
This is one of the most iconic Baroque castles in the Czech Republic and was designed by Jan Santini-Aichel who was one of the main Baroque architects of Italian origin. The castle was built in 1721-1723 as the summer-seat of Count Frantisek Ferdinand Kinský, in honour of the coronation of the Emperor Charles VI, king of Bohemia. It later became known as ‘Charles’ Crown’ to commemorate the visit of Emperor Charles VI and has a unique royal crown ground plan with three wings. For more information about visiting or the Zámecká Terasa restaurant or the Café Orangerie at Karlova Koruna Castle, please go to their website.
Obora Game Park and forests
This area originated as a hunting reserve back in 1562 by Ferdinand II, HRE and King of Bohemia. Over the ages it has been used as breeding grounds for horses and later for red deer and wild boar. The present-day look of the Obora game park, with its beautiful entrance gate and “hunting lodge” overlooking the lake, was developed for Franz Ferdinand II Kinský (1760-1806) by his wife Princess Christine of Liechtenstein as her husband was an avid hunter. In 1957 this area of 911 hectares was declared a nature reserve: the Žehuňský National Nature Reserve, with the presence of fallow and roe deer, boar and muflon as well as bird breeding. A must see for bird watchers and nature lovers!
Other interesting places to see near the estate are the beautiful mixed forests, the open meadows and lakes. Also near the estate are nature-protected areas (including NATURA 2000). The area close to Kost Castle is called “the Czech Paradise” and is famous for its rock cliffs, deep valleys and beautiful scenery.

Hotel Obora Kinský and apartments
The hotel and restaurant are open for private events upon reservation. It is located 10km from Castle Koruna and was renovated in 1994, maintaining a hunting lodge style. The restaurant offers traditional Czech cuisine as well as Italian with many products coming directly from the estate. Activities include clay pigeon shooting and air gun, archery and rifle range. For more information about the hotel, please go to the website.
An alternative more informal stay is the Luhy hunting lodge, also recently renovated, and is located in the middle of the forest. It sleeps up to 12 people. For more information about the hunting lodge, please go to the website
