Jordberga Gård

Skåne Län, Sweden

Situated in the southern tip of Sweden, just one hour from Copenhagen airport, lies Jordberga farm. The beautiful Baroque inspired castle and its fertile environments create a great place for a guided tour, meeting, wedding or overnight stay.

History

Jordberga Gård has been in the family for more than 275 years, with the original castle dating back to 1355. Sadly, it was destroyed by fire in 1644 and then rebuilt by its owner Ivar Krabbe. He built the large stone-barn that is still present on the estate. Carl-Adam von Nolcken, an important agricultural reformer and owner of Jordberga in 1840, redesigned the whole castle as well as the nearby church in Gothic style together with the famous Swedish architect Brunius.

The Baroque-style castle we see today dates from the early 1900’s, when the castle was re-modelled by the Danish architect Glaesel on behalf of Carl-Adam’s daughter Clara. The typical English-styled garden was formed thereafter and is a lovely place to wander about.

Today the estate’s main business is agriculture. During the year you’ll see various crops grow on the farm, like wheat, sugar beet, rapeseed corn and grass-seed. Jordberga Gård’s goal is to run a modern and efficient farm, making the most of the possibilities created by its location and fertile land. Thanks to the three windmills and solar panels the farm is self-sufficient in power generation. Next to the farm there is a bio-gas installation on the old sugar factory in Lilla Jordberga.

Carl-Adam von Arnold is in charge of running the Jordberga farm and has been living here since 2016. He lives on the estate with his wife Marie and their three young children. Carl-Adam studied agriculture in Uppsala and has previously worked in renewable energy. Marie is the Managing Director of the hotel and event business.

Overnight Stays

The Jugend Barock villa at the Jordberga Estate is ideal for a larger group or family that wish to have an exclusive experience in the Swedish countryside or just a great getaway.

The villa, located in the castle’s breath-taking park, dates back to 1912 and was originally built for the estate’s tenant farmer. Danish architect Henri Glaesel, who was also responsible for redesigning the Jordberga castle in the early 1900’s, developed this stately villa, which is now a comfortable hotel. The 8 large and 2 slightly smaller guest rooms are individually styled with a mixture of vintage furniture and modern design and are open on demand.

The South of Sweden is well-known for its vast beaches and gastronomic delights. Skåne is characterized by large forests, natural parks and many walking and cycling trials. The flat landscape makes it ideal for cycling tours through the forests or along the rugged coastline.

 National Parks

Just a one hour drive away you will find two amazing national parks: Söderåsen and Stenshuvud

Söderåsen National Park is a paradise for adventurous people. The legend goes that the 150 million years old park with its magnificent views and wild nature was formed by giants!  Visit Kopparhatten, a lookout and one of the highest peaks of Skåne.

Stenshuvud National Park is totally different with its sandy beaches, heath land and a breath-taking coastline in the South-East of Sweden.

City trip Malmö

40 km from Jordberga Gård you will find the modern and friendly city of Malmö with many sight-seeing opportunities. The Turning Torso is THE icon of the city. Architect Santiago Calatrava  designed the spectacular 190 metre high tower building which turns 90 degrees from top to bottom. Lilla Torg, where you will find cosy bars and trendy restaurants, is the heart of Malmö. Next to this, many historical and cultural sites are worth a visit like Malmöhus Castle (one of the oldest castles from the Renaissance period), St. Petri Kyrka (the oldest building in Malmö dating back to the 14th century), Ribergsborg Kallbadhuset (an historic bathing house), Moderna Museet (a museum with contemporary art) and Malmö Live.

Our goal and humble hope is to be able to leave Jordberga in just as good condition and preferably better for the next generation.
